NFL Mock Draft 2025 (First Round)

QB—the player who throws the ball during a play 

EDGE—The player that is on the line of scrimmage, either the left side or the right, and rushes the QB 

O-Line (OL)—The group of players on the line of scrimmage whose job is to protect the QB from rushers 

CB—The players who guard the WR on the outside (near the sideline)

Secondary—The entire group of players who guard the WR

Safety (S)—The player(s) who are in the middle of the field far from the line of scrimmage, and either guard the WR or guard the deep part of the field 

WR—The player(s) who catch the ball from the QB 

OT—The two players who protect the QB farthest away from the line of scrimmage 

LT—The player who protects the QB farthest away from the line of scrimmage, out of all the OL, on the left side

RT—The player who protects the QB farthest away from the line of scrimmage, out of all the OL, on the right side

RB—The player(s) who receives a handoff from the QB, then runs against the defense 

TE—The player(s) who blocks and catches the ball, both for the QB

DT—The player(s) who rush the QB in the center of the field on the line of scrimmage 

OG—The two players who protect the QB halfway in between the middle of the line of scrimmage and OT 

Backfield—The place where the RB lines up before a play 

LB—The player(s) who line a few yards behind the line of scrimmage, and either rush the QB or guard the WR
